On Thursday the 21st of November, Longridge Primary School hosted this year’s Acorn Awards, a fantastic event that brought together ten local schools to showcase their innovative projects.

Pupils were challenged to use STEM subjects to design and create models that harness renewable energy, inspiring the next generation to think about sustainable solutions for the future.

The Acorn Awards, organised by The Levenseat Trust with support from contributions received from Tormywheel Windfarm, highlight the creativity of young minds across our community.

Auchengray Primary School won this year’s top prize for their imaginative and forward-thinking project, the mini Auchy Energy Centre.

Their innovative approach and detailed execution left the judges thoroughly impressed.

As part of the event, the children were also treated to performances by a magician and a storyteller, who were both extremely enjoyed by the pupils. These entertaining additions brought even more excitement to the day.

We’re proud to see young people embracing STEM and thinking critically about the future of energy. Congratulations to Auchengray Primary School and all the participating schools for their incredible efforts and ideas—it’s clear that the future is in good hands!

A huge thank you to The Levenseat Trust, Tormywheel Windfarm, and everyone involved in making this event possible.
