Acorn Awards 2025 Winners

On Thursday, 20th November, the Annual Acorn Awards took place at Longridge Primary School, bringing together nine local schools to showcase their creative and impactful projects: Auchengray, Braehead, Forth, Stoneyburn, Our Lady’s (Stoneyburn), Addiewell and St Thomas’s Combined, Woodmuir (Breich), Longridge, and St John the Baptist (Fauldhouse).

This year’s theme, ‘Outdoor Learning and Development at Your School’, truly inspired the judging panel, who were impressed by the creativity, commitment, and variety of initiatives on display.

Congratulations to Braehead Primary School, winners of this year’s award for their enchanting outdoor project: a storybook trail inspired by Julia Donaldson’s Room on the Broom. Their initiative focused on three core areas:

Enhancing Playground Play – Reviewing and upgrading outdoor play equipment to make play more fun and engaging.

Developing a School Garden – Collaborating with community volunteers to improve the garden and launch a gardening club.

Strengthening Outdoor Learning & Community Engagement – Expanding weekly outdoor lessons into a storybook trail for families and the wider community.

The Acorn Awards are organised by The Levenseat Trust, with support from Tormywheel Windfarm, celebrating our local schools that inspire children through innovation, creativity, and connection with nature.

Well done to all the schools involved for their dedication to outdoor learning and community engagement!
