We have now moved into the next stage of the commissioning journey and as part of the phased commissioning programme the Levenseat Power Plant has achieved operational takeover.

The hand-over to Levenseat comes after M&W, the plant’s engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor, completed a 14 day trial to demonstrate the plant’s operability.

The next stage for the plant will be to run 60 days of performance trials to demonstrate the facility’s reliability and to test various parameters relating to technical performance.

The Levenseat facility is unique to Scotland due to its front-end materials recovery and fuel preparation plant, which opened its doors in September 2017. As well as recovering recyclates the facility prepares the remaining residual waste into a fuel that meets the exact specifications required to ensure a clean and efficient conversion process and to minimise production of ash and other by-products.
